A sports prop firm gives you a funded betting bankroll after you pass a paid evaluation. You bet with the firm’s simulated capital instead of your own money. Pass the profit target without breaking the loss limits and the firm funds you, then pays you a share of what you win, usually 70% to 90%. The model is copied from trading prop firms. The only real difference is that you bet sports markets instead of forex or futures.
The category is young. Most of these firms launched after 2024, and the rules vary far more between them than they do between forex prop firms. Read the drawdown rule before you read the price. Sports prop is one of seven categories we cover, and all 193 firms we have reviewed are scored on the same six dimensions.

| 1. Buy a challenge | Entry runs from about $10 to just over $1,000, depending on the bankroll size you want |
| 2. Hit a profit target | Usually 10% to 30% of the starting bankroll. Anything above 25% is aggressive for sports betting |
| 3. Stay inside the loss limits | Two limits apply. A daily loss cap, typically 5% to 15%, and a total drawdown cap, typically 10% to 25% |
| 4. Meet the minimum picks | Most firms require 20 to 30 settled bets, so you cannot pass on one lucky parlay |
| 5. Get funded and take a split | Payout cycles run weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Most firms require KYC before the first withdrawal |
These get confused constantly, and they are not the same product. On PrizePicks, Underdog or Sleeper you stake your own money on player projections and get paid per winning entry. At a sports prop firm you pay an entry fee, bet the firm’s simulated bankroll, and get paid a profit share only after you pass an evaluation and get funded. DFS pick’em risks your cash on every slip. A prop firm risks your entry fee once.
The structure is nearly identical: paid evaluation, profit target, drawdown limits, profit split. The differences are that sports firms settle on fixed odds rather than live price movement, they count settled picks instead of trading days, and almost none of them have the payout history that established forex firms have. A firm like FTMO has a decade of documented payouts. No sports prop firm has more than about two years of trading.
| Is the drawdown static or trailing? | Static measures from your starting bankroll. Trailing follows your peak and never resets, which ends accounts that are still in profit |
| Are the loss limits published? | Some firms do not publish the daily loss limit or maximum drawdown anywhere before checkout. That is the rule that ends your evaluation, so ask for it in writing |
| Is there any payout evidence? | Most firms in this category have none at all. Dated, specific payout reports from named reviewers are worth more than a star rating |
| Does the Trustpilot number match? | Check the firm’s claimed rating against the live profile. At least one firm here advertises a score its own profile does not support |
| Who runs the firm? | Most of these firms name no founder, no team and no legal entity. A registered company and a named jurisdiction is a meaningful signal here |
| Is your state or country allowed? | Geographic restrictions are common. One firm on this page is blocked in 23 US states |
Our scoring weights six things: challenge rules and payout reliability at 20% each, cost at 20%, platform and support at 15% each, and transparency at 10%. Full detail is on the methodology page.
