The short answer

Cheap entry. Strict news rule. Mixed trader record.

Nexus and Bolt start at $39 and every loss rule is published with a formula. A 4-minute news ban ends accounts on four of five account types, Trustpilot has suspended the rating, and payout totals are self-reported.

Our verdict

This ThinkCapital review (Think Capital) covers the ThinkMarkets-backed prop firm's four programs, its news-trading rule, payouts and the trader disputes on record as of October 2026. ThinkCapital sells Lightning (one step), Dual Step (two steps, Intraday or Swing), Nexus (three steps) and Bolt instant funding, with fees from $39 and account sizes of $2,500 to $100,000. [S1, S2, S3, S4]

The biggest risk is the news rule. On Lightning, Dual Step Intraday, Nexus and Bolt, any order filled near a red-folder ForexFactory release ends the account and forfeits profits. [S6] Your contract is with TFG (Payments) Limited in London, not with ThinkMarkets. [S23] Every account is simulated. [S31]

We read the program pages, help center, terms and Trustpilot on October 21, 2026. We did not buy an account, trade, test support or request a payout.

Account plans and pricing

ThinkCapital prices start at $39 for a $5K Nexus or a $2.5K Bolt account, which puts both among the cheapest prop firm challenges we track. Lightning and Dual Step Intraday cost $59 for $5K; Dual Step Swing costs $82. The 100K accounts run $349 (Nexus) to $899 (Bolt). Add-ons such as news trading, faster payouts and the 90% split cost extra. [S1, S2, S3, S4, S5]

Lightning challenge rules (1-Step)

ThinkCapital Lightning is a one-step challenge with a 10% target, a 3% balance-based daily loss and a 6% maximum loss that trails your highest closed balance until it locks at the starting balance. See trailing versus static drawdown for how that compares with Nexus. News trading needs an add-on. [S1, S15, S16]

Dual Step challenge rules (2-Step)

ThinkCapital Dual Step has two versions with the same 9% and 5% targets and the same static loss limit: 7% in the challenge, 8% when funded. Intraday measures the 4% daily loss on equity and bans news and weekend holding. Swing measures it on balance and allows both. Our guide to balance vs equity daily loss explains the difference. It is the cheapest ThinkCapital challenge at $39 for $5K. News trading needs an add-on. [S3, S20, S21, S32]

ThinkCapital Bolt skips the evaluation. Since the October 2026 update it costs $39 to $899 for $2.5K to $100K, with no five-profitable-days requirement. Bolt keeps a 3% equity daily loss, a 6% equity trailing max loss, a 20% best-day cap and a 6% profit threshold for the first payout. News trading and crypto are not allowed. [S4, S5, S12]

ThinkCapital news trading rule

ThinkCapital bans news trading on Lightning, Dual Step Intraday, Nexus and Bolt. No order, including stops and limits, may fill 2 minutes before or 2 minutes after a red-folder ForexFactory event. Trades opened earlier can stay open, but a stop or target hit inside the window still counts. A breach ends the account and forfeits profits. [S6]

ThinkMarkets also raises margin on some instruments during listed events, which cuts effective leverage. [S26]

Payouts

ThinkCapital pays 80% of simulated profits, or 90% with an add-on or scaling. Lightning, Dual Step and Nexus pay every 14 days counted from your first funded trade, or weekly with an add-on. Bolt pays on the 14-day cycle or on demand with an add-on. Payouts are processed within 3 business days and must be at least $100. [S1, S7, S8, S5]

Withdrawing to a personal ThinkMarkets account

ThinkCapital can send profits straight to your own ThinkMarkets live trading account. You email support with your funded and ThinkMarkets account numbers and the team reviews the request. It only works where ThinkMarkets onboards clients; the excluded list includes the United States, Canada, Japan, Malaysia and Belgium, so traders there must use crypto or Rise. [S7]

Trading conditions

ThinkCapital accounts run on ThinkTrader, which connects to TradingView so you can trade from TradingView charts. MT4, MT5 and cTrader are not offered, although the About page still mentions a "Platform 5". Copy trading is allowed between ThinkCapital accounts only. Is ThinkCapital legit? Trustpilot and trader disputes

ThinkCapital is a real business with a named contracting entity, TFG (Payments) Limited in London, and published terms. The T&Cs say ThinkMarkets is not a party to your contract and its regulatory protections do not apply. [S23] That is the legal picture. The trader record is mixed.

On October 21, 2026, Trustpilot showed: "This company's rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines." It also said it had removed a number of fake reviews, and listed 608 reviews. [S25] We no longer show the old 4.3/5 rating.

Complaints on the Trustpilot pages we read fall into four groups. All are allegations from the reviewer's side:

  • A $5K Lightning account closed for "multiple profile" (March 12, 2026).
  • A first 3.5% payout refused on the grounds of a rule violation the trader disputes (updated July 16, 2026).
  • Two Pakistan-based traders say payouts of $1,545 (updated July 7, 2026) and $1,782 were refused when ThinkCapital stopped offering challenges in their region. ThinkCapital's terms now limit traders in Pakistan, Malaysia, Cambodia and Indonesia to Bolt.
  • No access to a Bolt account bought on July 18, 2026, with password resets failing and an AI chat bot as first contact (July 30, 2026), and a giveaway account that expired for inactivity before support was contacted.

Many reviews are positive, and ThinkCapital replies to most complaints. Its payout totals are self-reported. Before buying, read the gambling and reckless trading guideline, because it gives the firm discretion to deny payouts. Our page on prop firm payout gating covers what to check.

Our verdict

ThinkCapital suits a trader who wants low entry prices and clear written rules, and who will check the news calendar before every order. Nexus at $39 with an 8% static max loss is the easiest program to plan around. Dual Step Swing is the only account where news trading and weekend holding come included.

It is a poor fit if you trade news on default terms, rely on MetaTrader, or need a long independent payout record before paying a fee. The Trustpilot suspension and the dispute pattern are reasons to keep first payouts small and well documented.

Best for

Budget traders who want Nexus or Bolt from $39, Dual Step Swing traders who hold through news, and ThinkMarkets clients who want payouts into their own live account.

Avoid if

You trade red-folder news without the add-on, need MT4 or MT5, want to copy trades in from another prop or personal account, or dislike Bolt's 20% best-day cap.

10 questions traders ask

Is ThinkCapital legit?

ThinkCapital is run by TFG (Payments) Limited in London and publishes full rules and terms. Trustpilot showed the rating as suspended for a guidelines breach on October 21, 2026, and some traders report refused payouts. ThinkMarkets backs the brand but is not a party to your contract.

Does ThinkCapital allow news trading?

Only Dual Step Swing allows it by default. Lightning and Nexus need a paid add-on, and Dual Step Intraday and Bolt ban it. The ban covers 2 minutes either side of red-folder ForexFactory events, or 5 minutes on Bolt, and a breach forfeits profits.

What platforms can I use for the ThinkCapital challenge? Is MT5 available?

ThinkCapital runs on ThinkTrader, which connects to TradingView. MT4, MT5 and cTrader are not offered, even though some third-party reviews still list MT5.

What is ThinkCapital's profit split?

ThinkCapital pays 80% of simulated profits by default. You reach 90% by buying the add-on or through the scaling plan.

How and when does Think Capital process payouts?

Challenge accounts pay every 14 days from the first funded trade, or weekly with an add-on; Bolt pays every 14 days or on demand with an add-on. ThinkCapital processes requests within 3 business days, with a $100 minimum, by USDT, Rise or a personal ThinkMarkets account.

Which ThinkCapital challenge is best?

Nexus is the cheapest at $39 and uses an 8% static max loss. Dual Step Swing is the only option with news trading and weekend holding included. Lightning is fastest at one step but its 6% max loss trails your balance.

Can I use copy trading software with ThinkCapital accounts?

Yes, between ThinkCapital accounts. You cannot copy trades from another prop firm or a personal account into ThinkCapital, but a ThinkCapital account can be the master. Paid copy-trading services are banned.

Is ThinkCapital instant funding (Bolt) legit, and what are its rules?

Bolt is ThinkCapital's no-evaluation account, $39 to $899 for $2.5K to $100K. It has a 3% equity daily loss, a 6% equity trailing max loss, a 20% best-day cap, a 6% profit threshold for the first payout, and no news or crypto trading.

What is ThinkCapital's drawdown rule?

Lightning uses a 3% balance daily loss and a 6% balance-trailing max loss. Dual Step uses 4% daily (equity on Intraday, balance on Swing) and a 7% static max loss, 8% funded. Nexus uses 4% daily and 8% static; Bolt uses 3% and 6% trailing, both on equity.

Is there a ThinkCapital discount code?

Our affiliate code is FT20; we earn a commission on it. ThinkCapital also shows its own public codes, WELCOME20 and QUIZ20, on its homepage.
